QR Code Generator
Create QR codes for links or text and download them as PNG or SVG.
Why use this tool?
Create a QR code for a link, text, Wi-Fi details or contact info, and download it as PNG or SVG for print or screens.
How to use it
- Enter the text or URL.
- Adjust size and colors if offered.
- Download and test-scan it with your phone.
What you can put in a QR code
A QR code stores text. Phones recognise certain formats and act on them: a URL opens in the browser, an email or phone link starts a message or call, and specially formatted text can add a Wi-Fi network or contact. For most uses, a website link is the most reliable choice.
The more you put in, the denser the code becomes. Short URLs produce simpler codes that scan faster from further away, so shorten long tracking links before encoding them.
Error correction, size and colors
QR codes contain redundant data so they still scan when partly damaged or covered. There are four levels: L recovers about 7% damage, M about 15% (the default here), Q about 25% and H about 30%. Higher levels make the code denser; use H if the code will be printed outdoors, on curved surfaces, or with a logo placed over the middle.
Size and colors can be adjusted. Keep strong contrast with dark modules on a light background; inverted codes (light on dark) and low-contrast color pairs fail on many phone cameras. Leave the quiet zone, the empty margin around the code, intact.
Printing and testing
Download SVG for print: it's a vector format that stays sharp at any size. PNG is fine for screens, documents and social media. As a rule of thumb, the printed code should be at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 inch), and larger if people will scan it from a distance, roughly one-tenth of the scanning distance.
Always test the final printed or exported code with two different phones before using it at scale. These codes are static: the content is in the code itself, so they never expire, but they also can't be edited after printing. To change the destination later, point the code at a link you control and redirect it.
Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The content is encoded directly in the image, with no tracking service in between, so it works as long as the link inside it works.
PNG or SVG?
SVG for anything printed (it scales without blurring), PNG for screens and documents.
Why won't my QR code scan?
Usually low contrast, a code that's too small for the distance, too much content, or a missing margin. Try darker colors, a larger size or a shorter link.
